Emily's heart raced as she sat on the toilet, her stomach in knots. She had never been so mortified in her life. She was usually confident and prepared for job interviews, but this time, she had underestimated the power of her gut. As she frantically pushed out one dump after another, she could hear the interviewer knocking on the door.
The interview had started off normally enough, with Emily answering questions about her experience and skills. But about halfway through, she started to feel queasy. She tried drinking water, but it only made things worse. By the time the interviewer suggested they take a break, Emily was desperate to find a bathroom.
She rushed out of the room, her cheeks burning with shame. She locked the door behind her and let out a loud groan as she sat on the toilet. It felt like she had swallowed a whole bowling ball, and she knew there was no way she could hold it in much longer.
The stench was unbearable, even to her. As she sat there, listening to the farts and toilet flushes, she imagined what the interviewer must be thinking. She pictured him standing outside the door, growing more and more impatient and annoyed.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, she heard a knock on the door. She froze, her heart pounding in her chest. "Emily, are you okay in there?" he asked, his voice sounding strained.
"I-I'm fine," she stammered, trying to sound casual. "Just a stomach bug. Sorry about the smell."
There was silence on the other side of the door, and Emily could feel the tension mounting. Finally, the interviewer spoke. "Look, I understand that this isn't ideal, but we need to continue with the interview. Can you come out now?"
Emily took a deep breath and stood up, her legs shaking. She flushed the toilet and washed her hands, trying to steady her nerves. As she opened the door, she could see the disapproval in the interviewer's eyes. He looked at her like she was the most unprofessional person he had ever met.
The rest of the interview was a blur for Emily. All she could think about was the horrible smell, the sound of her own stomach growling, and the feeling of shame that washed over her. She knew she had blown the interview, and it was all because of her gut.
