The Gaslighting of Mary Anny
Mary Anny walked through the front door of the large, Victorian-style house, her heels clicking against the hardwood floor as she dropped her keys and purse on the small table by the door. It was early, much earlier than she had anticipated, and she found herself somewhat taken aback by the sight that greeted her.
On the plush couch in the living room, Scarlet White, Iza Candy, Kat, Jully, and Anitta were lounging together, their legs entwined, giggling and whispering to one another. Anitta had a mischievous grin on her face while Jully playfully shoved Scarlet's shoulder. Mary Anny bit her lip, trying not to let the anger boil over.
She had worked long and hard all day, not once considering the fact that she lived with these five girls. She had assumed they would be doing their part to keep the house running smoothly, but instead, they seemed content to laze about, not caring one bit about the responsibilities they shared.
Mary Anny cleared her throat loudly, startling the girls on the couch. They all turned to look at her, their eyes immediately filling with fear and dread. She walked over to them, her heels clicking on the hardwood floor again, and stood before them, hands on her hips.
"What do you think you're doing?" she demanded, her voice shaking with anger. "You know very well we all have responsibilities here! Where's the respect for this house?"
The girls exchanged nervous glances, none of them willing to meet Mary Anny's gaze. Finally, Scarlet spoke up, her voice shaky. "We were just...talking," she said, her eyes darting away from Mary Anny's glare. "We didn't mean any harm."
Mary Anny scoffed. "Talking? That's what you call it?" She shook her head, disgusted. "Fine. Have it your way. But know this: this house doesn't run itself, and if you think you can just sit on your asses all day while I do all the work, you've got another thing coming."
With that, she turned on her heel and stomped up the stairs, slamming the door to her room shut behind her. She felt a sense of satisfaction at her outburst, but also a nagging feeling of unease. She couldn't shake the feeling that the girls were up to something, and that she was suddenly at their mercy.
Later that night, as Mary Anny lay in bed, she couldn't help but notice the strange smell wafting through the air. It was faint at first, but it grew stronger with each passing moment, until it was nearly overwhelming. She sat up in bed, squinting into the darkness, trying to figure out where it was coming from.
Suddenly, she felt a rush of hot air against her face, and she gagged as the most putrid, disgusting fart she had ever smelled filled the room. It was so strong, she could barely breathe. She leapt out of bed, gasping for fresh air, and ran out of the room, her heart pounding in her chest.
As she stumbled down the hallway, she heard more farts, each one worse than the last. They were coming from every corner of the house, and she felt like she was being gassed by a team of professional pranksters. She reached the bottom of the stairs and looked around, trying to figure out what was going on.
That's when she saw them: Scarlet, Iza, Kat, Jully, and Anitta, standing at the top of the stairs, their faces twisted into sly grins. They were all holding their stomachs, clearly trying to contain their laughter.
"What are you doing?" Mary Anny demanded, her voice shaking with anger and fear. "Why are you doing this to me?"
Scarlet stepped forward, her eyes gleaming with mischief. "We're showing you who's really in charge here, Mary Anny," she said, her voice low and threatening. "We're showing you that this house belongs to us, and we'll do whatever we want with it."
Mary Anny backed away, her mind reeling. She had never seen the girls like this before, and it terrified her. As she stumbled back into the living room, she felt another wave of noxious gas hit her, and she fell to the ground, retching and clawing at her eyes.
"Please stop," she sobbed, "I'll do anything you want. Just stop."
But the girls only laughed, their high-pitched giggles echoing through the house. As Mary Anny lay there, helpless and humiliated, she knew that she was at their mercy, and they would never let her live it down. And so, with a sinking feeling in her heart, she realized that she had been gaslighted by the very people she called her friends.
